About The Eagle

Personal History: I was born in California, but I grew up and attended school in southern Utah. After high school I joined the Marine Corp and did most of my training in California. I returned to southern Utah again to attend college. After college I moved to "The Big City" to pursue a career. However, After About Five Years, I felt the call of the Southern Utah area again and moved back to stay. Two and a half years ago, I met my Soul Mate. We were married six months later. Our combined family includes: my chocolate labrador, C.J.; her cat, Kitty Mouzer; and our kitty, KoKo. My wife also is addicted to the beauty and majesty of southern Utah and Together we call it home.

Computer History (Also Known as How I Got to Be Here): I still remember my first introduction to computers. As a freshman in high school I started learning computers on an Apple computer (No, not a Mac, an original Apple that didn't even have a disk drive) and I have been hooked ever since. From high school to college to work, I graduated from the Apple to an Apple 2e with dual disk drives (the hot thing in those days) to my first IBM Compatible, a 486 Dx33 with a massive 200 meg hard drive and a lightening quick 14.4 modem (I say that tongue in cheek now, but in those days that was a powerful computer). That computer took care of my needs until about 2 years ago when I purchased a new Pentium2 computer and went from Win3.1 to Win98. I had access to the internet prior to the new computer. However, the internet took off for me with the new computer (if anyone reading this has tried to surf the web with a 14.4 modem on a 486 computer with only 8 meg ram you will know what I mean). Both me and my wife now use the internet for work, for information, for communicating with family and friends, and, of course, for fun. My brother introduced me to "The Zone" in June of '99 and I have since met a lot of wonderful people. With the influence and help of my online friends, I just recently started learning html programing (this website is a result) and the programing skills I learned in high school and college are really coming in handy. The language has changed, but the concepts remain the same.

The Eagle Away from the Computer: I really enjoy the great outdoors. My wife and I feel that the Ultimate Sunday is doing what I call "Following the Hood". We throw a lunch and some drinks in my jeep C.J.-7, head for the mountains or slickrock, and just follow the hood and see where it takes us. Getting lost on one of these adventures is considered a bonus. We enjoy going for hikes- whether its hiking on established trails in one of the many national parks surrounding southern Utah or just exploring a new area that our friends may have told us about. We also enjoy backpacking- whether its an overnight backpacking trip or a week long backpacking excursion. I would love to name all the majestic places we have visited in our explorations, but there is no way I could list them all, so I won't even try. If somebody was to ask me my favorite place to visit, I would not be able to answer. The world is too big and full of too many wonderful places to pick just one.

Why I Chose the Nickname "Eagle": An Eagle is majestic and proud. An Eagle is the symbol for freedom and independence. Of all of God's creatures, I think I have always admired the Eagle the most. Also, when I was young I was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. I was able to achieve the highest rank which was an Eagle Scout. The pledge of the Eagle Scout included being honest, true, loyal, benevolent, and kind. These character traits are ones that I strive to uphold today. So, like the song on my main page says, "I Want to Fly like an Eagle."
